01 · Our story

Aracaju's first German school.

KONTAKT is the first German-language school in Aracaju, opened in 2010. To meet the high demand, since 2017 KONTAKT has offered Portuguese courses for foreigners alongside its German courses.

The school is located in the Coroa do Meio neighborhood. We offer a welcoming environment for students aged 14 and up, with modern classrooms equipped with air conditioning, a TV, and a computer. Magazines, books, and other materials are available to anyone who wants to keep studying at home.

Here you learn with qualified teachers and a practical methodology, with materials designed to make learning easier. More than teaching a language, we build real communities where knowledge is shared.

To help you get comfortable with the language, we host a cultural evening where students get to speak German, share cultural experiences, and meet people with the same interests.

We are an institution licensed by the Goethe-Institut.

Portrait of Luiz Henrique, German teacher at KONTAKT

Luiz Henrique

Sociologist · Former DAAD scholar (TU Berlin)

Luiz Henrique is a sociologist and was a DAAD scholarship holder at the Technische Universität Berlin, where he studied German history with a focus on the Kaiserzeit. Back in Brazil, he realised that teaching was the best way to keep living in German every day. Since then he has turned that passion for the language into light, welcoming and encouraging classes. For Luiz, the greatest reward is seeing students discover that they can communicate in German far sooner than they imagined. “Ja, das kannst du!” (“Yes, you can!”)

03 · Method

Real communication from the very first day.

01

Speak from the start

No rote learning. Classes in German, Portuguese support as needed.

02

Culture at the center

Students learn about the culture of German-speaking countries, with coursework based on authentic situations.

03

Small groups

Groups of 5 to 8 students and tailored one-on-one classes.

German

Our teaching is based on the intercultural communicative method, in which students learn to read, write, listen, and speak in German. They also get to know the culture of German-speaking countries — Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Students learn in small groups or one-on-one, with multimedia resources, and the coursework was developed in Germany, based on authentic situations.

Portuguese for foreigners

PLE students (Portuguese as a foreign language) experience cultural immersion — through coursework developed in Brazil, the knowledge of our teachers, and everyday life in the city of Aracaju.

06 · Why learn

Why learn German

German is the official language in 6 countries and the most spoken language in the European Union. Learning German opens paths for study, work, and culture — without losing the Brazilian way of doing things.

Why learn Portuguese

Foreigners who move to Brazil — for good or temporarily, for work or family reasons — need to learn Portuguese. Speaking English or Spanish isn't enough to enjoy life in the country, talk with Brazilians, make friends, and get to know the local culture. On top of that, Portuguese is the fifth most spoken language in the world: most native speakers live in Brazil, but other countries have Portuguese as their mother tongue too.

08 · Facilities

Take a look around the KONTAKT space.

Our school shares its physical space with Jardim Canino, a dog care and wellbeing center.

So it's normal to cross paths with dogs on the way to class — and students can bring their pets at agreed times, for the following services: daycare and boarding, bath and grooming, and veterinary care. It's an environment that breathes informality and calm, the way learning German should feel.
